My Plan: My plan for this assignment was to take pictures of a skull and set of antlers in my house and focus on the antlers as a whole as well as certain areas
My New Photos:
For these pictures, I got some deer antlers I had in my house and I had my mom hold up one pendleton blanket behind the propped up antlers and another blanket was underneath. I tried to focus on texture and also the antlers as a whole. When taking photos I had my mom position the antlers in certain ways so I could get pictures of the decay on the teeth, the cracking of the skull up the naval cavity, and the back of the skull. I think the inclusion of the cultural blanket really set a mood to the shoot and made the pictures come together in terms of the subject matter. I am super proud of how these photos came out. My Edits:
When editing I worked with both the vibrance and black and white tools. For the first edit I made the antlers black and white and increased the saturation of the blanket in the background and this is also my printed piece because I think it was the best edit that could implicitly show decay depending on how a viewer looks at the photo. The two middle edits I put in black and white and just simply balanced out the lights and darks within the photos. For the last edit, I focused on the decolorization from white on the teeth and turned up the vibrance to enhance the yellow and black. Also, when editing the last one I really focused on the lights and darks within the photo, balancing the white skull and the shadows.
