My Plan: For this assignment I want to take photos of an old, falling apart, broken down car and focus on making the photo look more vintage. My New Photos:
I took these photos of the old broken down sports car my uncle has in my yard. The car has flat tires, broken windows, and is very beat up on the inside and out. I decided to take pictures of this car for my third assignment because it showing the decaying of the car. I tried to mainly focus on the areas that show decay rather than the car as a whole. I believe this shoot was successful because even though I did not get many photos, I got photons I knew I could work and edit with well.
My Edits:
For this assignment, I decided to move away from the black and white editing and went with more of a sepia filter. When editing these photos I tried to really bring out the lights and really bring out the darks. While editing the photo of the side of the car , I focused on making the texture really pop out by using value. Something that was helpful when editing was the levels image adjustment because when playing around with it I was able to find where there should be darks and where there should be lights. I think being able to really see the darks creates a lot of value and also gives you some blank space in a photo that contributes to the main subject.
My Printed/ Matted Piece:
When printing my final piece I decided to print not only one but three of my edits. I did this because I feel like these photos work better together than they do individually. The top left photo is of the window of an old sports car. There is no window so you can see the steering wheel, the driver seat, and the torn up stuff in the inside of the car. The top right photo is of the flat tire of the car. Along with the tire, you can see part of the door on the left side, a small piece of a turned over, black, water bucket, and the chipping of the paint near the left and top right side of the tire. The bottom photo is the side of the car on the door. You can see on this side of car the paint is chipping a lot and the texture on this photo is very strong. All three photos are edited the same. All I did was put the sepia filter on each picture and adjust the levels so I had a variety of darks and lights. The texture to contrast ratio in all of these photos is really strong and they work together to make the pictures come together as a whole. When adjusting the darks and lights to create more contrast, it naturally brought out the texture of the seat and the paint on the car. I used the fading colors of the car in order to show
